History Through the Arts! Our Stories...

We make history everyday, however there is a special story that each of us has to share. Throughout time cultures have shared their stories through the arts. On my last trip to the High Museum in Atlanta I learned so much about African Art, Folk Art and Contemporary Art. Each told a unique story. I was particularly intrigued by the details of the African Art and how each sculpture had a meaning and purpose for the tribes of time. For example, I saw a sculpture painted in gold with three tribe members and one in the middle: this piece was to serve as a reminder to always get counsel before making a big decision.

In addition, a great deal of American Black History stories were ingrained in many pieces of folk art. Like a door, which was painted with many stories of black church. I learned so much and gained some creative inspiration! See my journey below.
